Avant Machines in the Mining Industry

mine1-300x224 Avant Machines in the Mining IndustryThe Avant loader was introduced to Gold Fields Beatrix Mine mainly for the purpose of x/cut mud loading and haulages underground & surface belts with excessive mud, to reduce manual labour & costs. The production figures of the shafts has been raised significantly with the implementation of AVANT loaders

The first Avant was purchased in September 2008 & once the potential of this machine was realized another two soon followed.

In December 2008 another one was purchased for the South section. Since then more than 100 machines were delivered to the mining industry. We have customer references available from Anglo Gold Ashanti as well as Sibanye Gold.

The Avant range of mini-loaders was first introduced to a leading gold mining group in South Africa during 2008. The experimental machine was utilised in the underground environment at first to establish durability and safety aspects related to clean up operations.

Various custom additions were made to the series 528 loader as one of the major challenges was to make the machine fit in the profile limitations yet maintaining operating excellence.

Within 3 days of utilising the machine for cross cut cleaning and revamping of old sites it was discovered that the grade of gold so obtained made it possible for the capital expenditure to be redeemed on the machine.

It was soon realised that the Avant range of mini loaders was ideal for the underground environment mainly due to its size, power to weight ratio, ability to handle heavy loads at a higher level and reach than competitors as well as durability to minimise operational downtime.

It was a fairly simple exercise to make the loaders compliant with the stringiest safety requirements and retro fitments entail that engine protection systems as well as all required safety specifications can be adhered to.

The application for the mining environment was soon expanded due to the range of attachments available for the Avant loaders. Apart from cleaning between rail tracks, the machine is utilised for support drilling with a 7.5 kw customised drifter, roof bolting, revamping, handling materials, clean-up of box holes, forklift application on surface, plant clean-ups and a host of new applications are currently in development like drain cleaning attachments, shotcreting applications and sweeping.

The range of machines has been expanded with the recent introduction of the 400 series which is even more compact as well as the 700 series for trackless environments. Support is provided by service agents in all provinces with a dedicated service fleet and 24 hour fault report hotline.

Parts availability is simplified by adequate stock levels at all dealers.
